Application

BEEVITAL HIVE CLEAN should preferably be warmed to 35–37 °C, corresponding to the microclimate temperature of the bee colony. The optimum outdoor temperature for treatment is 10–25 °C.

The best time for treatment is late afternoon, when the bees have returned to the hive. Apply the product evenly between the frames.

Dosage:

  • 10–15 ml – for a test treatment;

  • up to 20 ml – for a large or strong colony;

  • approximately 15 ml – for treatment above the winter bee cluster.

Before treatment, it is recommended to remove wax bridges from the top bars of the frames.

How does it work?

BEEVITAL HIVE CLEAN acts externally. The product forms microscopic sticky droplets that adhere to the bees' body hairs and are spread throughout the colony as the bees move.

It stimulates the bees' natural self-cleaning behaviour and helps reduce the number of Varroa mites. The mites fall onto the hive floor.

Recommended application periods

  • March–April: 10–15 ml for a test treatment.

  • May–June: up to 20 ml.

  • July–August: after honey harvesting – 10–15 ml for a test treatment.

  • Early September: treatment is recommended to help the colony prepare for winter.

  • November–December: treatment above the winter cluster, approximately 15 ml, if the temperature allows treatment.

Treatment is not recommended during periods of intensive honey flow.

The most effective treatment is after the last brood has emerged and before the wintering period.

Checking Varroa mite drop

Place a screened hive floor or sticky board on the hive bottom and apply 15 ml of BEEVITAL HIVE CLEAN between the frames. Count the fallen mites the following morning.

If the number of fallen mites exceeds 30, a more intensive treatment course is recommended:

  • Day 1 – treatment;

  • Day 6 – repeat treatment;

  • Day 13 – repeat treatment.

This treatment schedule takes into account the Varroa mite development cycle and helps reduce the number of mites on the bees.

It is better to maintain a strong bee colony than to treat a weakened one!
